Asylum (2022)

Main cast: Oscar Isaac (Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Jake Lockley), May Calamawy (Layla El-Faouly), Khalid Abdalla (Selim), Ann Akinjirin (Bobbi), David Ganly (Billy), Fernanda Andrade (Wendy Spector), Antonia Salib (Taweret), Fernanda Andrade (Wendy Spector), Rey Lucas (Elias Spector), F Murray Abraham (The Voice of Khonshu), and Ethan Hawke (Arthur Harrow)
Director: Mohamed Diab

Is the second to last episode of Moon Knight the right place and time to indulge in flashback scenes of Spector’s past life? Does anyone even care at this point?

More than ever, Asylum is shaping the series up to be that pretentious, self-indulgent waffle vomited out by hacks that believe they are so much smarter than they actually are.

So yes, what may seems to be a great reset ends up being a montage of scenes of more Oscar Isaac looking like a lost and confused goldfish, a super-obnoxious hippo lady steering a magic barge straight into Gods of Egypt, finally culminating with Spector in a field of grains wishing desperately that he’s in Gladiator.

At this point, I still have zero cares for any of these people. I find more amusement in how everyone is supposed to love this show for its pseudo-intellectual façade, when this episode is just a cheaply made show that tries so hard to be different only to end up being a sequel to Gods of Egypt that nobody asked for.

So, next is the finale, yes? Bring it on, so that I can put this show behind me and never speak of it again.
