Return of the Mandalorian (2022)

Main cast: Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett), Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand), Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Emily Swallow (Armorer), and Amy Sedaris (Peli Motto)
Director: Bryce Dallas Howard

Ah, finally, The Book of Boba Fett does the right thing: Return of the Mandalorian shoves the decrepit Bobo Foot out the airlock, sadly just figuratively, and brings back the ultimate chad everyone with good taste loves. That’s right, people, Mandy is back in the house to arrest all the prisoners and screw them up bad.

In just five minutes alone, Mandy has had more action, with the darksaber to boot, than Bobo had in all the episodes up to this point. He even chops a fellow into two. Blessed be for Mandy, for reminding me that there are actually people capable of doing cool crap on this show. That is the way!

This episode should re-titled One Foot Out the Door, I tell you.

Anyway, Bobo and Fennec decide that they have to declare war on their enemies. Why? Who cares, the whole show has been such a snooze, I think the only people guzzling endless cans of energy drink in order to stay awake and keep track must be those that have to write wiki entries on each episode.

Now, after he has handed Grogu to Luke, Mandy is now without a quest. He is willing to rebuild a new coven on Glavis Ringworld with the Armorer and Paz Vizsla, but he also wants to check on Grogu again, aww, to make sure that he’s okay. He also asks the Armorer to forge something for Grogu out of the beskar spear, thus officially cementing him as the best dad in the Star Wars franchise.

This episode is in all essence an epilogue to the second season of The Mandalorian, and Bobo Foot doesn’t even appear in it outside of the recap part of the early episode. It’s all about Bobo learning to use the darksaber effectively, he doing this thing and missing Grogu, and he’s kicked out of the Order because he’d taken off his helmet while saying goodbye to Grogu.

The last bit is why I like this fellow. He’s not the strongest or the smartest fellow in the neighborhood, and he’s not always a winner in every fight. Yet, he’s a scrappy and I always adore a dogged underdog that goes all out no matter what.

At any rate, Mandy now has to “redeem himself”, as per the Armorer, in the “living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore”, whatever that means, and thus begins his new adventure.

Oh, and Fennec shows up at the end to remind me that this show is supposed to be about Bobo Foot.

Who cares! Mandy is back. It’s amazing how the scenes of him and Peli Motto assembling a new ship for him have far more kinetic energy and humor than all the previous episodes combined.

So, it’s pretty clear what this show must do from now on: let Mandy stay around longer and keep that geriatric bore in the freezer when he belongs.
