December Wrap-Up!

Tags: book

December was an insane reading month. Not only was I really behind on my reading challenge and needed to complete it but also I was in SUCH a reading mood, I honestly didn't want to do anything else. Whatever the extreme opposite of a reading slump is...that was me...a sort of reading high?? - Don't judge or question me...
....
On with the books:

Secrets For The Mad by Dodie Clark

This was our book of the month and after loving Dodie's creative talent shown on her YouTube I went into this book with high expectations and was not disappointed! Her writing flows so smoothly and her use of language is beautiful. It made me cry many times...
I will warn you if you want to read it that it goes very deep into the truth of some subjects and can trigger some bad responses to some people, it might not but I just felt it was important to know.

Genuine Fraud by e. Lockhart

This was another book I had very high expectations going into it as her book 'We Were Liars' is one of my favourites. Even though it is a completely different type of book I still ended up loving it. I just couldn't put it down! I read it on the bus, waiting outside class and even attempted to read while walking home (not the most successful). Her writing is sooo clever. Don't find out anything about it, just go in blind, it is worth it, honest!

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee

I have heard loads of amazing things about this book and although I did enjoy it, I don't think it is quite worth all the hype...
I do really appreciate all the diversity and it was very funny at times, it just..dragged on and there were unnecessary scenes which could have been dropped and still be a good story-line.
I feel the hate already....

Invitation to Poetry by Mihai Brinas

This was kindly sent to me to review though all opinions are my own. This was a really nice collection of poems. They are short and easy to read but are very very powerful.

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

This book was a definite roller-coaster. So much happened! And that ending definitely hit me!

History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera

I had a burning desire to re-read this book and it was worth it! This story is beautiful and really digs right into all of your emotions!!

A Christmas Cracker by Trisha Ashley

I read this book hoping it would be a nice festive read near Christmas but...it was actually really disappointing. It was just so boring and wasn't really anything to do with Christmas except that run a company that sells crackers!!

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
I finally read this beauty of a book! It was really good and links in to the original Cinderella very well. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here!!

Harry Potter: A History of Magic

This book was really interesting. It is based on the British Library exhibit in London. I always love finding out information about Harry Potter which realistically I am never going to use but they are just fascinating!!

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

What a book to end the year!!
I was warned but still....the emotions!!!!

That's everything!!
Luckily most of the books I blasted the end of the year with were 4 or 5 stars which is pretty lucky.
Did you complete your reading challenge and what was it?
