Enid Blyton's influence on my life

I have always loved reading and there was never any major event that spurred my love for reading but if I had to pick one person that hugely impacted my life through their books it would hands down be Enid Blyton.

From books, to ginger beer, to castles I am going to show you the adventures she has taken me on.

BOOKS

Firstly let us address the book collection....

As she is such an amazing author Enid Blyton has written LOTS of books. I don't even own all of them yet I have stacks behind stacks of them!

My shelves are decorate with ginger beer bottles and mini jam jars as they are a key element of the amazing picnics she writes about, especially in the Famous Five series.
The Famous Five series is my favourite off all her books. There are 21 all together and each one is so special and brings a smile to my face.
Although Enid Blyton's books are directed at a much younger audience they are still enjoyable for adults who want a quick, light hearted read.
The language used in all her books is old fashioned and really makes you feel a part of the time period that it was written.
Enid Blyton's first book to be published was the Adventures of Noddy.

One of my favourite books is 'Enid Blyton and her enchantment with Dorset'. This book gives information about all of the author's inspirations around Dorset and places you can visit. Which leads me nicely onto my next point........

LOCATIONS

In 2014 (which is why I look so young here) I went with my family to visit Corfe Castle as it is the inspiration behind Kirrin Castle in the Famous Five.
It was an amazing day as we were lucky with the weather and it is was such an interesting castle to look around.
Also in the village they have a shop dedicated to Enid Blyton and it has the magic wishing chair outside!

Another place we visited was Swanage as Enid Blyton took her children on holiday here every year as it gave her good inspiration for her writing and was a special place for her family.
ART

At school in art we had to create a series of artwork on someone that inspire us so I chose to do Enid Blyton. (This is only a sneak peek as I plan to do a whole post on my book inspired artwork I did when I was at school).

These pieces are just examples of me experimenting with spray paint.

I was very disappointed (though admittedly unsurprised that no one in my class knew who it was).

That's all I am going to say though there are so many more links to Enid Blyton in my life. Maybe I will do a part 2 one day?
Did you ever read any of her books as a child?
Do you love ginger beer because of her?
