MY THOUGHTS
The first three lines of the synopsis convinced me to read it. This book reminded me of The girls are all so nice here. Needless to say, it is a perfect dark academia mystery.
Jessica Miller got the invitation to a ten-year reunion. She got everything now which she wished for me. It is the best time to show people that she is not that girl anymore. But destiny has other plans. This story moved in past and present which made the reader more curious.
Jessica, an average girl, who always yearn for more, tried for more but she was never enough. College life was supposed to be a ladder to her dreams. She was a goody-two-shoes until she met the other six. East house seven formed one of the most popular groups. They are all so comfortable with each other. Brotherhood, sisterhood and relations they got all. Until one day one of them ended up dead and the other was ended up accused of murder; that was the downfall of the group. With every chapter, we get to find more and more about their secrets. Every chapter peeled a layer of these characters, all the dark secrets they were hiding, all the motives everyone had to kill one of them. Reunion is the climax of the secrets.
The writing style was so different kind of dark but at the same time so engaging. The character development was well done. I, instantly, felt connected to all of them, their personalities, secrets, motives, everything started to make sense. I love grey characters and this gave me them. The pace of the story was also good. The continuous jumping from past to present grabbed my attention more than ever. I wasn’t expecting this ending but it made me so happy regardless.
