The stars from the sky
Have descended upon this earth
As flickering, sparkling lamps tonight
Ah, the celebration of Diwali is here
And every heart sings
A song of joy
These eyes have seen
Many a wondrous nights before
But none compare to the wonders of this night
Embellished with all the sixteen forms of adornment
This night prances about with joy
Bringing pleasure to every heart
Embracing all the joyful colors of spring
It plays around, waiting
In every alley, at every crossroad
Wondrous scenarios
Resplendent colors
So enchanting
That the eyes are just spellbound
Captivated by the scenarios
The burning lamps so announce
May our splendor
Be endowed upon you (this world)
Ah, what ecstasy this burning is
For sharing this illumination
Only we, who burn
Know this joy
