Thought of the Day: Kye and I have watched the first two Harold and Kumar movies for the first time. They're hilarious and groundbreaking, and have provided much-needed humor to our daily round. We'll be watching the third and final installment, Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas, soon enough, I suspect.

I don't get bigotry; I just don't. I don't understand the human being who would look at John Cho, who played Harold, or Kal Penn, who played Kumar, and hate them simply because one is Korean and the other Indian, because they don't have white skin, because their cultures are different than what the bigot expects or likes. Both Cho and Penn are American as well, by the way; Penn served in the Barack Obama administration!

I was raised by a bigot, a proud one who used to wax on about the upcoming race wars and how he hoped he would live long enough to fight in them, to "clean up this country," because America "is for the white race and nobody else."

He died two years into the illegitimate Trump "presidency." By then his mind was so eaten up by Alzheimer's that he probably didn't know that the white nationalist bigot he'd always dreamed of voting into the White House finally got there.

Are we, the human species, worthy of the stars or some galactic community? The answer is obvious and plain: no, we are not. We are, roundly speaking, one sorry-ass species; and we'll be lucky at the rate we're going to see the next century.
