There is some distance between Buttigieg, at number four, and the three frontrunners. What does that mean? It means I'm very reluctant to give him many props. His comments about the Clinton campaign have really rankled me, and speak to either sheer ignorance of her accomplishments during that campaign, sheer ignorance over the Trump campaign and how it cheated its way into the Oval Office, or both. I know everyone is all-agog over Buttigieg right now; I'm not one of them. He's got some work to do before he gets back into my good graces.

Cory Booker continues to impress me. I like his attitude and philosophy. I like his determination to touch on religion in civil life. I like his ideas about criminal justice. And I like how he talks about veterans.

Kamala Harris is seriously cool. She's talking policy; she's talking about helping teachers; she too is talking about criminal justice reform. She's also big these days on student loan debt and health care. A little less rah-rahing has moved her up behind Elizabeth Warren.

Warren is kicking major ass right now. She's passionate, deeply intelligent, compassionate, and offers almost daily detailed policy plans that the others just can't match or must steal from in order to keep folks like myself interested in them. Almost every day she's making major waves, and is doing so with a sharp tongue and a desire to stand up directly to the continued Republican assault on our democracy. She could very well run out of steam here, but at this stage she's a true contender. I absolutely love the campaign she's running.

Falling behind: Beto O'Rourke, who needs to, in my opinion, stop traveling so much and start talking: What are your detailed ideas, Beto? How are you going to fight the charge that you're a centrist? When will you draw the line between inclusion and oh hell no! when it comes to Republicans and their desire for an autocracy? As far as I can tell, you're all about generalities. And that just doesn't wash with me.

Way, way behind: Klobuchar, Castro.

Bringing up the rear: Biden, Hickenlooper, and Sanders.

This is the most consequential election in American history. It is so because the human race and most living species on the planet cannot deal with another Trump, nor can they deal with a spineless centrist. We are a divided nation. That's not a bad thing in the light of the fact that one side wants true democratic governance, and the other wants dictatorship and destruction. We've got to choose. Now. Right now.
