Although the newspapers had called the North Africans killed on 21st August migrants after the initial sensationalist headlines, the police knew otherwise. The phone of the man killed by a blow to the neck with a knife had yielded a rich source of information, as did his wallet. Although the name was a fake, the receipts from shops and ATMs were not.

The owner of the Android phone hadn’t switched off Location Services and all the places he’d been were available.
