वह उग्रसेन का बेटा था,
भय का वह तो विक्रेता था।
उसकी माता थी पद्मावती,
कहलाता था वह भोजपति।
He was the son of Ugrasen and Padmavati,
Everyone was afraid of him.
उससे सब कांपते थे थर-थर,
वह बोझ बना था इस भू पर।
वह बहुत कर चुका अत्याचार,
उससे मिली सुरपति को भी हार।
He had committed too much sins,
And he even defeated Lord Indra in war.
वह पुत्र धर्म भी निभा न सका,
पिता की प्रतिष्ठा को बढ़ा न सका।
पिता का छीना सिंहासन था,
किया स्वयं मथुरा पर शासन था।
He could not become an ideal son,
And he became the King of Mathura by forcely removing his father from throne.
देवों ने तब ऐलान किया,
'तूने जो है अभिमान किया।
उसका फल तू तो पायेगा,
भाँजे द्वारा मारा जायेगा।'
And then an oracle took place.
'You will be killed by the son of your sister, Devki.'
देवकी के पहले छः लाल,
जिनको वह समझता रहा काल।
उन छः को तो वह त्याग सका,
पर अपने काल से न भाग सका।
He was able to kill the first six sons of Devki,
But as the seventh Son (Lord Balram) and eighth son (Lord Krishna) were incarnations of God,
So he could not kill them.
श्री हरि का जब अवतार हुआ,
तब वहाँ एक चमत्कार हुआ।
खुल गई बेड़ियाँ, कारावास,
श्री कृष्ण पहुँचे यशोदा के पास।
When Lord Krishna took birth,
Then a miracle took place that the door of the cell opened itself along with the fetters in which Vasudev and Devki were kept.
And Vasudev took Lord Krishna to Yashoda.
जब कई वर्ष थे बीत गए,
भगवान हर दैत्य से जीत गए।
तब कंस पे समय विकट आया,
उसका भी अंत निकट आया।
After many years, the last moment of Kansa arrived.
मामा-भाँजे में युद्ध हुआ,
कंस हर विफलता पे क्रुद्ध हुआ।
कुछ भी हो अब उसे मरना था,
श्री को उसका वध करना था।
A war took place between Lord Krishna and Kansa.
Kansa got irritated on every failure.
But now, he had to die.
अंतिम क्षण कंस को ज्ञात हुआ,
क्या पाप था उसके हाथ हुआ।
वह श्री को न पहचान सका,
हरि की लीला न जान सका।
At his very last moment, Kansa realised his sin of not recognising Lord Krishna.
उसने अब पश्चाताप किया,
माधव के नाम का जाप किया।
जीवन में एक भला काम किया,
कान्हा को उसने प्रणाम किया।
Now he chanted Lord Krishna's name and beseeched .
उस क्षण था नाच रहा अम्बर,
थे पुष्प महकते खिल-खिलकर।
देवों की वाणी सत्य हुई,
धरती उससे अब मुक्त हुई।
