Some Boycotts are Forever: Three of My Favorite Latte Recipes

With the continued (and for me, forever) boycott against Starbucks, and in conjunction with my previous article on homemade coffee, I decided I would share three of my favorite iced latte recipes so you can make them at home too!

I love exploring different flavors in my coffee. Honestly, I drink coffee more for the creative aspect than the actual taste, but rest assured these recipes will meet all of your caffeine needs! All of these can be made as hot lattes—just steam Milk and use hot espresso!

Some items you will need:

  • A milk frother
  • Ground espresso
  • Some kind of coffee maker (espresso machine, coffee pot, moka pot or single serve machine
  • Syrups (either homemade or store bought)

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Iced Latte with Marshmallow Cold Foam

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of chilled espresso, or espresso grounds brewed with four ounces of water in a coffee pot
  • 2 tbsp. Strawberry syrup (I use Torani brand for my syrups
  • 2 tbsp. Chocolate sauce (preferably dark chocolate
  • Sweetener of choice (optional)
  • Milk of choice

For the cold foam:

  • 3 tbsp. Milk (preferably a higher fat milk, makes frothing easier)
  • 1 tbsp. Marshmallow creme or Fluff

Instructions:

  1. Mix your espresso, strawberry and chocolate syrup together, with any additional sweetener you may like.
  2. Add ice to a glass (I use ice that is made out of coffee instead of water, but either works) and add your espresso mixture to it.
  3. Add milk to desired height, leaving about an inch and a half for your cold foam.
  4. Heat up your marshmallow creme in a microwave safe mug for about fifteen seconds, then add in your milk and froth with a milk frother for about 30 seconds, or until creme has dissolved and milk is firm*
  5. Layer your cold foam on top of your milk and coffee in your glass, and enjoy immediately.

*If you don’t have a milk frother, you can add milk and marshmallow creme to a blender and blend on high for thirty seconds

Dark Chocolate Almond Iced Latte

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of chilled espresso, or espresso grounds brewed with four ounces of water in a coffee pot
  • 1 tbsp. Almond or Almond Roca syrup
  • 2 tbsp. Dark chocolate syrup
  • Sweetener of choice (optional)
  • 8-10 oz Milk of choice

Instructions:

  1. Mix your chilled espresso, almond syrup, chocolate syrup and any additional sweetener you may like.
  2. Add ice to a glass, and add your espresso mixture to it.
  3. Add milk. Feel free to add more or less milk than I do depending on your preference
  4. Enjoy immediately!

Coconut Cheesecake Iced Latte

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of espresso, or espresso grounds brewed with four ounces of water in a coffee pot
  • 2 tbsp. Coconut syrup
  • 1 tbsp. Cheesecake syrup
  • Sweetener of choice (optional)
  • Milk of choice

Instructions:

  1. Mix your chilled espresso, coconut syrup, cheesecake syrup and any additional sweetener you may like.
  2. Add ice to a glass, and add your espresso mixture to it.
  3. Add milk to your preference, I use about 8-10 ounces.
  4. Enjoy immediately!
