July is the month where everything seems to slow down and we have the opportunity to take in the year so far. It’s the time to sit out at the beach with a glass of ice cold beer (or wine, or juice) and just Listen to Music. Last week, I wrote about all of my favorites so far from this year, including the top posts on this blog. This week, I’m writing about yet another favorite that I forgot to include in the past post- music.

It makes the most sense for me to split this into a separate section because I’m not going to go through and only include songs that have come out this year. That’s right, you’re going to get the completely unfiltered look into my life of music according to statsforspotify dot com.

Top Songs

To be honest, I was pretty surprised by my top song, because I didn’t think I listened to it all that much. Most of my top songs (the top 5, and many of the ones after that) are on a single playlist, because I do tend to listen to one playlist for a prolonged period of time.

If I were to say my favorite song at this exact moment, I’d have to say Good Kisser. I had never heard it before April of this year, and it quickly rose in the ranks to become an easy repeat. The beat is just SO GOOD and not at all something I’m used to listening to.

Top Genres

I admittedly had no idea what Lilith was when I first wrote this list. If you are in my boat, here is a definition, according to Google and soundlive:

Basically, I think this just means that I listen to old-timey pop-folk, which makes sense if you look down the rest of the list as well. Genres has always confused me because I feel like they all pretty much mean the same thing (minus Alt Rock coming in strong at #8), but some people who know more about music than I do may find this interesting.

Top Artists

Notably, Taylor Swift has become my top artist despite not having a single song in my top 12. I’m willing to bet this is due to the fact that I don’t normally add T-Swift to my playlists, but I will listen to her entire album straight through (Red: Taylors Version, anyone??). Ani DiFranco is of course in her expected position given that she is the only artist with 2 songs in my top 10.

Other than that, not too many surprises. It does seem that my Top Artists are pretty easily carried by just single songs in a lot of cases.
