Murder Most Foul by Bob Dylan 26 March 2020 Short Extract 3 February 1940 “The RCMP ‘thorough investigation’ can only be truly described as such when justice is done - not just seen to be done - for the innocent little girl, her father and for good historical accuracy about what is now the Canadian Town of Port Hope Simpson.” by Llewelyn Pritchard MA

Royal Canadian Mounted Police [RCMP] Investigation Into Two Deaths in Port Hope Simpson, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada 3 February 1940

LONGER EXTRACT

“12. However, despite what I have been told by the RCMP Serious Crimes Unit, NL, Canada about their findings, investigative policy, procedures and practice. I believe their findings of ‘no foul play’ to be woefully incomplete, inadequate and completely unsatisfactory.

13. When not even the facts about the cause of deaths have been established.

14. Would exhumation and forensic analysis of the bodily remains help in that regard?

15. The RCMP ‘thorough investigation’ can only be truly described as such when justice is done - not just seen to be done - for the innocent little girl, her father and for good historical accuracy about what is now the Canadian Town of Port Hope Simpson.

16. Regarding the history of Port Hope Simpson [where I lived and worked as VSO teacher 1969-70] as well as staying true to the memories of the deceased and the right, proper protection of the public interest - ABOUT ONE SET OF EFFECTS OF BRITISH COLONIALISM IN CANADA: an unsustainable colonialist type of development; deception; deceit; dishonesty; lack of transparency; no effective accountability; disrespecting local people’s needs; lack of punishment and exceptionalism, white supremacy and therefore racist acts of impunity at the time are surely unwanted traditions which are being continued by the RCMP’s incorrect, inadequate and totally unacceptable, too limited, solitary finding of ‘no foul play’?

By continuing such colonialist, racist traditions today, RCMP would, without doubt, be acting immorally as a patsy for the Government of Canada and therefore preventing itself from administering impartial justice.
In terms of the Justice Department’s own words at the time, the RCMP today should therefore not be ignoring the other granular effects of colonialism that are so obviously relevant and in the public interest 2020:

“Today, the R.C.M.P. case file located in the Department of Justice, St. Johns, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada about the unexplained deaths on 3 February 1940 of Arthur Eric Williams, a Welshman and Erica D’Anitoff Williams his infant daughter in Port Hope Simpson must remain open until such time the Department has ensured in their own words,

“the impartial administration of justice and the protection of the public interest through the dual offices of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

Decide for yourself if a “cover-up” is still going-on today.”

At least after 60 years, the acceptance by RCMP of my research findings as grounds for opening their own investigation meant that the case was formally transferred to Canada’s Department of Justice! Llewelyn Pritchard 12 June 2020
