Avani Chaturvedi Flew MiG-21 Solo

Avni Chaturvedi is India’s first female fighter pilot who flew Mig-21 Solo. She hails from Rewa district Madhya Pradesh. She was declared as the first woman combat pilot along with two of her cohorts, Mohana Singh Jitarwal, and Bhawana Kanth. Her father, Dinkar Chaturvedi, is an superintending engineer in Water Resource Department of Madhya Pradesh government and her mother is a home maker. She completed her schooling from Deolond, a small town in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh.[4] Completing her Bachelors in Technology from Banasthali University, Rajasthan in 2014, she passed the AFCAT and further was recommended by AFSB.

Bhawana Kanth: Second Indian Woman To Fly Aircraft Solo

Fight Lieutenant Bhawana Kanth has become the first woman pilot of the Indian Air Force to qualify to undertake combat missions on a fighter jet. She is also the 2nd woman to fly fighter aircraft solo. She hails from Darbhanga in Bihar. Kanth had revealed how flying “like a free bird” had always been a childhood dream for her. Her father Tej Narayan Kanth is an electrical engineer in Indian Oil Corporation and mother Radha Kanth is a home maker.[8] While growing up, Kanth was fond of sports like Kho Kho, Badminton, swimming and painting. Kanth completed her schooling from DAV Public School in Barauni Refinery.[3] She prepared for engineering entrance examinations in Kota, Rajasthan. Kanth joined Bachelor of Engineering in Medical Electronics from BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru for further studies.[10] She graduated in 2014 and was recruited for IT giant Tata Consultancy Services. She took the Air Force Common Admission Test and was selected to be commissioned into the Air Force. As a part of her Stage 1 training, she joined the fighter stream.

Mohana Singh: She Flew The Hawk Jets

Flight Lieutenant Mohana Singh was one of India’s first women to pilot missions on the Hawk advanced Jet Aircraft during the daytime.Both air to air and air to combat missions were included in her training. She had also undertaken a number of practice missions which involved firing of rockets, guns and dropping high calibre bombs. Khushboo Gupta is the first woman helicopter pilot to land at forward posts on the Siachen glacier. She was commissioned in the year 2007 and flies Chetak – Cheetah class of helicopters, they are single engine helicopters. She was posted to the most prestigious unit, single engine aircraft unit of the Indian Air Force, 114 helicopter unit which operates in the highest battlefield in the world. She was the owner of the coveted glacier qualified captain batch landed in the Siachen glacier and the highest helipads of the world.

Shaliza Dhami: First Woman Flight Commander

Wing Commander Shaliza Dhami, became the country’s first-ever women Flight Commander of a flying unit. She has been serving in the IAF for the past 15 years. An expert at flying choppers, Dhami became the first woman flying instructor of the Air Force and is also the first woman officer to get a permanent commission of the flying branch.Ludhiana-born Dhami dreamt of being a pilot since she was in the ninth grade. She took her first solo flight in 2003 in Hyderabad, on the HPT-32 Deepak, a basic trainer aircraft, and by 2017, she had clocked over 2,300 hours in the air.

Shivangi Singh: First Woman Pilot To fly Rafale fighter jets

Popularly being called as ‘Varanasi girl’ is the first fighter pilot from Varanasi and first in the country to fly Rafael. Her father owns a tour and travel business while mother is a teacher.
