My First Crafting Project: A Memorable Experience That Started It All

My first every crafting project, that is the focus of this blog post. I can remember it vividly but not in a bad way.

It's probably one of the easiest methods of making Handmade Jewellery and there are two processes I'm going to share with you now.

This is after countless hours researching handmade jewellery and how to make it. Here we go:

Method 1

Using this necklace making kit.

EFO SHM Jewellery Making Kit DIY Necklace Pendant Bracelet Arts and Crafts for Kids, Included 12Pcs Pendant & 2Pcs Bracelet Craft Supplies

It's from Amazon.co.uk and it's even got the date when I first bought it: 5 January 2021!

So, this kit and some others like it, which I also purchased, contains everything you need to create necklaces. The instructions are really simple. You use the decorative paper, cut out in the shape of the bezel (pendant base) provided and then glue it in that same bezel and then insert the glass cabochon (glass gemstone) on top (also glued in place) to create a very simple and cheap dome effect. Then you thread it onto one of the cords provided. Finished!

If you're like me, you don't use any of the kit provided (only one necklace I think I made) and use the contents as stock for future projects.

Method 2:

Using Nail varnish.

Rimmel Nail Varnish

Just buy or use normal nail varnish to start with. Something like the item above. I mean, it can get extremely complicated and expensive...but for now keep it simple. Maybe that should be my mantra from now on.

This is an easy but quite effective technique (the image I use in this post is an example of this process) and perfect if you have lots of different kinds of nail varnish lying around.

I have short nails and don't use nail varnish, so yep, had to go out and buy some to try this technique out. Quite a lot of it in fact.

Have a look at the very first two posts I made on my instagram account to see other examples of this technique. By the way, I've thrown away all my nail varnish...

What do you think? Worth trying? Let me know in the comments below!
