Police looking for a guy accused of abandoning two boys at a campground in Indiana

Rockville, Indiana – According to Parke County Sheriff Jason Frazier, deputies are looking for a man accused of leaving two boys at a park’s campground without food last week.

Deputies were looking for Rockville resident Dell G. Driskell, 42.

According to the sheriff, a 16-year-old boy was left alone for four days. Authorities discovered the 16-year-old and the 17-year-old Thursday in Driskell’s pop-up camper after they had been separated for more than a day.

The boys were found by deputies to be in good health and only hungry, the sheriff informed News 8 over the phone. The boys had just drunk water when they were abandoned at Rockville Lake Park from a campground spigot.

About a mile and a half northeast of the town of Rockville, the park is located off Marshall Road. About a 90-minute drive west of downtown Indianapolis is the Parke County seat, which has a population of about 2,500.

The sheriff claimed that, in order to determine why the boys were left at the campground, he could only make conjectures, and he did not want to. The park is owned by Little Raccoon Conservancy District. The park, which has more than 50 campsites and a beach on a sizable lake, is run by Parke County Parks & Recreation.

In Parke Circuit Court on Friday, Driskell was charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent. A $10,000 cash bond was established.

Investigators received assistance from the Indiana Department of Child Services.
