84-Year-Old Johnnie Payton Killed in Bryan Car Crash
BRYAN, TX (May 24, 2024) — An 84-year-old man identified as Johnnie Payton, of College Station, died in a crash on Saturday, May 11.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers, the accident took place on Highway 6 and Sadberry Road at around 9:24 a.m.
The initial investigation determined a 2021 GMC Sierra towing a trailer traveled northbound. At the same time, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Payton tried to turn southbound. Then it failed to yield the right of way and the GMC struck the Chevrolet.
The Robertson County Justice of the Peace Ramona Aguirre pronounced Payton dead at the scene.
Paramedics gave treatment to the driver and passenger of the GMC and then released them at the scene.
Authorities continue the investigation of the accident.
