Fatal Pedestrian Accident on McDowell Road and Pima Road in Scottsdale
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (May 24, 2024) — A man died following a pedestrian accident on McDowell Road on Sunday, May 12.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, the incident took place near McDowell Road and Pima Road, adjacent to the Loop 101 Pima Freeway, at about 8:40 p.m.
Police said a vehicle traveled east on McDowell Road. Then it struck a pedestrian trying to cross mid-block.
Emergency responders brought the pedestrian to the hospital, where medical officers pronounced him dead from sustained life-threatening injuries. Authorities only described him as an adult man.
The involved driver remained at the scene while officers investigated.
Police believe speed and impairment were not factors in the crash.
Authorities closed the eastbound lanes of McDowell Road for several hours.
The investigation into the crash is still underway.
