Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on Highway 89 in Coconino County
COCONINO COUNTY, AZ (May 21, 2024) – Officials confirmed that three people died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 89 on May 12.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at milepost 492 near Tuba City around 3:00 PM. Based on a report, a pickup truck was traveling north on the highway at the time of the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, it veered into the shoulder, over-corrected by steering into the southbound lane, and hit another vehicle.
As a result, three of the five occupants in the second vehicle died at the scene. DPS did not yet disclose their identities pending kin notification.
The FBI arrested the at-fault driver.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
