Mark Callaway Struck and Killed by Suspected DUI Driver Cory Luck in Paris
PARIS, TX (May 16, 2024) – The Paris Police Department identified 44-year-old Mark Callaway Jr. who died in a suspected DUI crash on Evergreen Street on April 30.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at 6th Street around 9:00 AM. Based on a report, Callaway was riding a bike near the intersection before the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, 44-year-old Cory Luck ran into the victim and caused a crash.
As a result, Callaway suffered grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported him to the hospital, where he later died.
Police said Luck was slurring his speech, had an unsteady balance, and refused several field sobriety tests. They arrested and booked him into the Paris Jail for intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
