Fatal Car Accident on Superstition Springs Boulevard in Mesa
MESA, AZ (May 16, 2024) — A man died and a woman sustained injuries after a car accident on Superstition Springs Boulevard on Saturday, May 4.
According to the Mesa Police Department, the crash took place on Superstition Springs Boulevard, just south of Baseline Road on Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses told responding authorities that the vehicle the man and woman were in traveled east on Superstition Springs Boulevard. Then it began swerving from left to right.
The car swerved two or three times. After that, it took a hard left turn and crossed three lanes of oncoming traffic. Then it eventually slammed head-on into the palm tree.
Mesa police said the man, who was the passenger of the vehicle, took the brunt of the impact. He died at the scene.
Meanwhile, responding officers extricated the woman, who was driving the car. Paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
The identities of those involved were not immediately available.
Investigators continue to investigate what caused the vehicle to swerve and crash.
