Steven Black Identified in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Maple Valley
MAPLE VALLEY, WA (May 14, 2024) – Officials identified 22-year-old Steven Black of Federal Way who died in a crash on Highway 169 on May 1.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at 201st Place SE around 8:55 PM. Based on a report, Black was traveling northbound on the highway before the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, he crossed the center line and collided head-on with the two other vehicles.
As a result, Black suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. The WSP reported that he was not wearing a seat belt.
A 53-year-old woman inside another vehicle sustained injuries and was taken to Valley Medical Center for treatment. Two people in the third car were not hurt.
The WSP said that unsafe passing caused the crash.
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
