Michael Kelly Fatally Injured after Dallas Train Accident near Metropolitan Avenue

 
DALLAS, TX (April 30, 2024) — One person identified as Michael Kelly died in a DART train accident on Monday, April 22.
 
Jeamy Molina, a DART spokeswoman, said a Green Line train traveled south just before 7:00 p.m. Monday. I just reached the Metropolitan Avenue grade crossing when the accident happened.
 
According to Molina, warning lights flashed and the crossing gate was down. She said the motorist went around the gate and hit the train. Four people on the train sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene.
 
First responders transported the driver to Baylor University Medical Center with serious injuries. A Dallas County medical examiner reported he died late Monday.
 
The medical examiner’s office later released his identity as 67-year-old Michael Kelly.
 
Molina reminded the public of the importance of being safe around train tracks.
