Nicholas Schintgen Identified in Fatal Car Crash in Cherokee County

 
CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (April 3, 2024) – Officers identified 44-year-old Nicholas Schintgen of Minnesota who died in a crash on Highway 69 on March 25.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 7:33 AM. Based on a report, Schintgen was driving his vehicle south on the highway prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, 38-year-old Nelson Terrell of Houston was driving a tractor-trailer at a high rate of speed. The report showed that the road was wet at that time. Due to unknown reasons, Terrell lost control of the tractor and struck Schintgen’s vehicle. The victim’s vehicle then veered off the west edge of the roadway and hit a tree.
 
As a result, Schintgen sustained grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
There was no word on Terrell’s condition.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
