Rene Almenares-Durand Identified in Fatal Accident in Dallam County

 
DALLAM COUNTY, TX (April 2, 2024) – Officers identified 48-year-old Rene Almenares-Durand of Dodge City who died in a train accident on Highway 54 on March 27.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at FM 807. Based on a report, Almenares-Durand was driving a semi-truck south on FM 807 prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a train was traveling northeast on the road. Due to unknown reasons, the victim failed to yield at the railroad crossing. The oncoming train then hit his vehicle.
 
As a result, Almenares-Durand suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
