Joe Garcia Killed in Car Crash on 35 Freeway

 
AUSTIN, TX (April 2, 2024) — An 88-year-old man identified as Joe Ildefonso Garcia died in a three-vehicle accident on Sunday, March 17.
 
According to Austin police, the crash occurred 900 block of south 35 Freeway service road at about 1:57 p.m.
 
Austin police responded to the scene. Paramedics rushed Garcia, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, to a local hospital. However, he sustained fatal injuries and medical personnel pronounced him dead.
 
All other people involved in the accident declined transport to the hospital. Yet, they remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
 
Authorities urge anyone with information on this case to contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111.
 
The crash is Austin’s 17th traffic-related fatality of 2024.
