Latasha Vasquez Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Business Highway 69 South
GREENVILLE, TX (October 11, 2023) — A woman identified as Latasha Vasquez died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 69 on Monday, October 2.
According to Greenville police, the crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian took place in the 490 block of U.S. Business Highway 69 South shortly after 8:00 p.m.
When Greenville PD arrived at the scene, they discovered a white woman they later determined as Latasha Vasquez. She had injuries from being struck by a westbound sport utility vehicle.
Paramedics transported Vasquez to the Hunt Regional Medical Center’s emergency room. Then Justice of the Peace Wayne Money pronounced her dead.
Officials conducted a thorough investigation of the scene to determine what happened prior to the crash. They then concluded that Vasquez entered the roadway from the south side and tried to run north across the road. She failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic on Business Highway 69. As a result, an oncoming SUV struck her.
Authorities said the driver of the SUV fully cooperated with the investigation. There are no expected criminal charges for the driver.
Officers notified Vasquez’s next of kin the same night of the incident.
