Adam Wanko Arrested after Scottsdale Police Chase Crash on Loop 101

 
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (October 10, 2023) — Authorities arrested 52-year-old Adam Christopher Wanko after a crash that injured multiple people.
 
According to Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers, the pursuit crash occurred at around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29.
 
A DPS trooper traveled northbound in a fully marked patrol vehicle on Loop 101 near Chaparral Road. The trooper then noticed a vehicle without a license plate. He then tried to initiate a traffic stop. However, Wanko, who drove the vehicle, did not stop and drove off, initiating a pursuit.
 
Officials said that the police chase went on for nearly one mile on the highway. Court documents said that Wanko traveled at about 90 mph.
 
According to the statement, Wanko intentionally drove south in the northbound lanes to escape the trooper. Then the pursuit ended when Wanko’s vehicle crashed with five other vehicles.
 
DPS officials said Wanko and a passenger inside his vehicle sustained injuries. Four other people in different vehicles suffered minor injuries. All patients received treatments and were eventually released from local hospitals.
 
Authorities then booked Wanko into Maricopa County Jail without bond. He now faces multiple charges, including five counts of endangerment and one count of unlawful flight from law enforcement.
