76-Year-Old Terrill Smith Identified in Fatal Crash on Trico Road in Pima County

 
PIMA COUNTY, AZ (September 5, 2023) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Office identified 76-year-old Terrill Smith who died in a suspected DUI crash on North Trico Road on August 21.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Silverbell Road. Based on a report, Smith was driving a Hyundai Sonata northbound on Trico Road prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, 60-year-old Karl Amundsen was driving a Dodge Ram pickup southbound. Due to unknown reasons, Amundsen crossed the center of the road into the northbound lane and collided with Smith’s vehicle.
 
As a result, Smith suffered significant head trauma. Crews took him to Banner-University Medical Center, where he later died.
 
Deputies said Amundsen showed signs of impairment.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
