Sergio Brown is a retired American football safety and was first drafted by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He also played for Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis, and Colts Jacksonville Jaguars.
He also excelled in other sports including track & field events and was a state qualifier in the long jump with a top-jump record of 23 ft, 9 in. He was also a good sprinter and finished with a personal-best time of 6.68 seconds in the 55-meter dash event at the 2006 Pirate Indoor Classic. He obtained the fifth position and also a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and had a 31-inch vertical jump.

In college at the University of Notre Dame, Brown played for special teams in his stint for the first two seasons. As a starter in 2008 as a junior, in 6 of 13 games, his figures were 28 tackles and one sack. As a senior, he started 12 games and had 50 tackles and one sack.
New England Patriots
After remaining undrafted in the 2010 NFL draft he was signed by the New England Patriots on April 29, 2010. After a brief hiccup when he was waived during final cuts he was re-signed to the team’s practice squad. After being in the practice squad for six months Brown was promoted to the 53-man roster on October 23. Soon he made his NFL debut against the San Diego Chargers, recording four tackles in the game. His figures in the 11 games he played for the Patriots in 2010, all as a reserve was 11 tackles
With the exit of Brandon Meriweather and James Sanders in the off season Brown donned the role of the starting strong safety for the season opener and in his first game he recorded 6 tackles. It also became his first career interception against the Chargers in the second game of the season. He was discharged by the Patriots on August 31, 2012.

Brown was deported from Mexico and is now in police custody. Brown is being held by the San Diego Sheriff’s Office on a felony fugitive arrest warrant. The hearing will start on November 13, 2023 to adjudicate his extradition to Illinois.
