After being in the practice squad for six months Brown was promoted to the 53-man roster on October 23. Soon he made his NFL debut against the San Diego Chargers, recording four tackles in the game. With the exit of Brandon Meriweather and James Sanders in the off season Brown donned the role of the starting strong safety for the season opener and in his first game he recorded 6 tackles. It also became his first career interception against the Chargers in the second game of the season. He was discharged by the Patriots on August 31, 2012.
