Janmashtami festival is a sacred Hindu festival celebrated by Hindus from all over the country. It is one of the main festivals celebrated by Hindus. Janmashtami or Krishna Janmashtami festival holds a significant and high value of religious importance among all the devotees, especially the Lord Krishna devotees. The day is celebrated to mark the 5250th birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. On this day, Krishna was born in Dwapar Yug around 5250 years ago.
Lord Krishna devotees celebrate this day with pomp and show irrespective of the place they are located or settled. He was born on the eighth day of Bhadrapada month. As per the mythology, Lord Krishna took birth in the month of Bhadrapada, on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha.
This year in 2023, the Celebrations will occur on 6 September 2023. This year, Janmashtami festival will also be celebrated on 7 September. It poses a great opportunity for people who want to observe fast on 7 September but who were unable to keep fast on 6 September.
Significance

The Krishna devotees celebrate this day with huge pomp and show all over the globe. Lord Krishna is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On this sacred day, Lord Krishna took birth to his biological mother Devki, and biological father, Vasudeva. However, Lord Krishna was raised by Nand Baba and Yashoda Maiya.
Individuals keep fasts, otherwise, stick to a fruit diet on this day. They offer prayers to Lord Krishna, also known as Makhan Chor in love. On this day, the Baal roop, or the childhood form of Krishna Ji is venerated.
