Today, the whole country’s submerged in the celebration of Diwali. Although, annually a day before Diwali is marked as, Naraka Chaturdashi, Choti Diwali, or Kali Chaudas, this year all three festivals are being celebrated on the same day, October 24, 2022. This time Narak Chaturdashi is considered very special. Worshiping Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu in this special conjunction will increase wealth and fortune. On this day, the Yamraj and Shri Krishna are worshipped and in the evening Diyas are lit in the name of Yama. The Chaturthi tithi will start at 06:03 pm on October 23, 2022, and will last until 05:27 pm on October 24, 2022.
Talking about the story behind this day, Lord Krishna killed Narakasura with the help of his wife Satyabhama. Lord Krishna had saved the deities by killing Narakasura, hence Kanha is worshiped on this day. It is a religious belief that donating a lamp to Yamraj in the evening on this day does not cause fear of death and one gets freedom from hell.
