Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th September. This year it will fall on Monday. The day is also celebrated as the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, First Vice President of India. 

During his lifetime he has been awarded several awards, including a knighthood in 1931 and a Bharat Ratna the highest civilian in India along with honorary membership of the British Royal Order of Merit in 1963. He was among the founders of Helpage India, a non-profit organisation for the elderly underprivileged in India. He once stated, “teachers should be the best minds in the country”.

Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a strong believer in education, he said young kids are the future of our country, and giving them a good education with etiquette will make our country move forward. 

Teachers play a vital role in everyone’s lives. Without their guidance, mental as well as emotional growth as a person in life and career is not possible. Due to his efforts in education, September 5 i.e birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan has been remembered as Teachers’ Day. It was his great contribution our nation stands tall.
