Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules, 2023

The Central Government vide notification dated 1st June, 2023 has issued the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules, 2023. Objections and suggestions, if any, may be addressed within 30 days to Shri Ram Charan Meena Under Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Room No 11A, 5th Floor, Pandit Deen Dayal Antyodaya Bhawan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, 110003 or by email at [email protected].

The amendment provides that following establishments shall ensure accessibility to health care through measures specified by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for persons with disabilities:

  1. Hospitals
  2. Nursing homes
  3. Private clinics
  4. Sub centres
  5. Primary health centres
  6. Community health centres
  7. Sub-district hospitals
  8. District hospitals
  9. First referral units
  10. Dispensaries,
  11. Medical laboratories
  12. Diagnostic centres etc.
