At just ten days old, Snoop Dogg’s infant grandson has died. The little boy, named Kai, passed away in his father’s arms. Snoop’s oldest son, Corde Broadus, 25, was the boy’s father.
Corde shared the horrible news on Instagram, complete with pictures of their first daughter, Eleven’s, first birthday.
Eleven’s birthday was only a few weeks before they expected Kai. In the post, one can see Corde’s partner, Soraya Love, visibly pregnant and looking happy and warm.
Corde shares that, while he only knew Kai for ten days, he is grateful for the time they spent together, and that Kai’s energy will “never leave him.”
Snoop Dogg’s Children
Snoop Dogg has three children by his wife, Shante Broadus, the oldest of whom is Corde. The couple, who have been married for 22 years, also have children Cori and Cordell. Another child, (by a different woman) Julian, is likely Snoop’s, though there has been some dispute about his paternity.
Snoop is no stranger to tragedy, but as of the time of this writing, he hasn’t made any comment on the situation. The beloved rapper did post to Instagram a short video that implores the viewer to “trust God,” and this likely is related to the tragic passing of Kai. Kai was Snoop’s fifth grandchild.
The Family Mourns
The somber Instagram post that Corde announced the news in ends with a bittersweet message. Corde says “Now let’s get back to our soul purpose – Kai Love”. Meanwhile, Kai’s grandmother, Shante, posted a heartfelt tribute to her infant grandson on Instagram as well.
Shante shared a video of herself singing “The Love We Had Stays on My Mind”, a hit song from the ’70s by The Dells. The video is captioned “To my fifth G Baby,” and her son, Cordell, left a short comment stating “Love you, momma.”
Fans all over the internet offered an outpouring of condolences for the family. While the passing of his grandson has yet to be commented on by Snoop, fans understand the situation is hardly easy for the star rapper. Details regarding what led to Kai’s death have not been released.
