Top 7 airborne diseases that you should be aware of

With the increased pollution, population and lack of balance diet, human health has become more sensitive to catch diseases. Our immunity systems becoming weaker day by day due to inhalation of polluted air and consuming contaminated foods.   At this stage, it is extremely important for us to keep ourselves protected from the rapidly communicable diseases specifically those which spread through air such as by sneezing, coughing, speaking, laughing or close contact. And, this is only possible if we are aware of the diseases that are transmittable by air and by taking the necessary precautions.

It is possible to control the dispersion of air communicable diseases by following simple steps such as:

    1. If you are sick, you must prefer to cancel your plans of going outside and meeting others, in this way you can avoid contacting others.
    2. In case of emergency, stay away by minimum few feets and wear a mask.
    3. Avoid spread of virus by covering your mouth while cough and sneezes by using tissue paper.
    4. Regular hand wash can significantly reduce the germ spread that could be received by touching surfaces or hands affected with secretions.

Anthrax:  

Basically caused by bacillus anthracis that develops spores which are actually dead cells but may become alive if get flourishing conditions. It is a type of infection caused by as said bacillus bacteria that is caught from animals. It causes skin, lungs and bowel disease and is fatal.

Anthrax disease infects humans by skin that causes horrible sore which often disappears without treatment. Another way is by eating dead animals who were infected by this virus. The target animals are horses, sheep, goat and cattle and their products. However the disease is rare but it still exists today.

It is a preventable disease.

Treatment: By antibiotics



Coronavirus :

A large group of viruses that cause sickness such as common cold. It spreads in the same way as of common cold such as by coughing and sneezing. Its symptoms are sore throat, sever cold, running nose and fever.

Treatment: The human Coronavirus is treated in the similar manner as common cold such as by taking adequate rest, drinking fluids, regular hand wash, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with your hands, avoid physical contact with virus infected people.

 Tuberculosis (TB):

Influenza flu:

It is caused by physical contact such as touch to people who are infected with influenza virus.

Symptoms: Sickness, congestion, sore throat, tiredness and lungs ache.

Treatment : Taking flu vaccines yearly, keep distance from affected people and regular hand wash.

 

Measles:




Also called as rubeola, a virus that infects respiratory system. It is highly communicable that it spreads by touching infected mucous and saliva. When an infected person coughs or sneezes, virus spreads into air. It can easily travel from one body to another if uninfected person is in close proximity to infected one. Measles in adults also spread by sharing glasses and utensils.

Symptoms: Cough, fever, muscle ache, skin sensitivity, sore throat, redness in eyes, white sores in mouth and rashes on the entire body.

Treatment: Virus spread in your body can be controlled by taking a vaccine within 3 days of contact to an infected patient. Drink lots of fluids and take rest.

 

Chickenpox :




it is a highly communicable disease that spreads by simple touch to an affected skin or standing near to sick person for some time. It most commonly occurs in kids and is caused by varicella zoster virus.

Symptoms: Itchiness in body, rashes, fever, sore throat, lack of appetite, fatigue, fever, body ache.

Treatment: vaccination. People who were earlier affected by chickenpox are safe in the next case as their body becomes defendant against the virus attack. The disease can also be controlled by taking adequate rest, taking pain relief tablets such as paracetamol and tepid baths with sodium bicarbonate. Avoid intake of citrus and salty foods during chickenpox treatment.

Plague:




It is caused by yersinia pestis bacteria that occurs in rodents for example rats and their fleas. The virus attacks when a person is bitten by a flea infected with virus.

Symptoms:  Shivering, fever, headache, muscle pain, seizures, cough, difficulty in breathing, bloody sputum, nausea and vomiting.

Treatment: Infected people need an immediate treatment such as antibiotics.
