The Trojan War in me

Vismay looked all around but could not find anything other than darkness. The place seemed to be a forest. He was not sure how he ended up there. Only thing he knew was that he had to get out of that damp and ferocious place before something goes wrong. He felt as if he was being scrutinized by somebody and this very thought added to his apprehensions. With a gasp he turned to his back, he got dazed by what he saw. He clearly saw a fierce animal gawking at him. That animal which he confirmed to be a hound stood at a distance with his eyes fixed on Vismay. Different thoughts came to his mind and he could feel a freeze wave travelling through his veins. The only thought that remained predominant was that he wanted to live and he cannot let himself die. Run! Cried Vismay’s heart and he ran with haste. The forest was dense and nothing was visible. He was not sure whether he was running down to safety or trouble. At that point of time he was not having the luxury to turn back and make a plan to outwit the hound. Only thing he could do was to run till his willpower permits him to. He cried out loudly as if he were a witch. But his cry was not enough to take away his fears.

He could hear the footsteps of hound chasing him down. He tried to push forward with more pace only to stumble over a wooden log. His body generated different cuts due to the fall and was paining all over. Laying on the ground he looked aback and found the hound nearing him with tremendous speed. He knew that his death was approaching but he could not accept that state. This thought acted as a painkiller for him and he stood up. From a distance the hound pounced on him and he jumped to the opposite direction. He fell upon a sloppy area and started rolling down. Spiky stones and thorny plants gave him pain to such extent that his body felt in-existent. He ended up rolling by crashing against the ground. He laid there on the ground with his eyes fixed somewhere in eternity. He was not able to move any of his body parts because he could not feel them. Only thing he could feel was his own existence. He knew he was alive, that’s all! He could see the hound bordering on to him but was helpless. At once the hound vaulted over him and caught hold of his leg. It pierced its sharp teeth into his legs. Blood erupted out like anything. And with a flick it amputated his leg with ease like plucking of flower. The pain was so massive that Vismay found it difficult to manage. The fear of death was increasing every moment. Vismay wanted to live but his fate wanted something else out of him.  Hound howled the way it used to and Vismay felt it as his death siren. Indeed it was, hearing it howl two more hounds neared him from darkness and one of them came straight unto his head and slush!!!

Vismay fell down on the floor and the pain which followed his fall made him open his eyes. Whew! It was just a dream, he exclaimed extremely relaxed. He was sweating all over and still could fell the fear in his heart. He wanted to share his dream with his parent and was eager to explain the daunting nature of it. But he had to first brush himself up, else amma would scold him for that. So he stood up and went straight to bathroom. He never had such a dream before. Even while brushing he was not able to leave thinking about that dream. What a breath taking dream it was! I felt almost dead in myself, “he thought. Wait! I have a doubt, objected his intellect. You were once chased down by a stray dog in reality and you ran screaming and howling all the way back home. At last your brother had to scare that dog away. From childhood itself you have a phobia towards dog. Yesterday night when you were dreaming you felt the same way, you did when you were chased down in reality. How come that’s possible? I mean you were asleep isn’t it? You (consciousness) were not present while you were asleep then why does all the dreams revolve around you being adopted as the central character.  And why does that person in your dream possess all those character as you do. He talks like you, looks like, reacts like you… why? Yesterday in your dream when your legs were amputated you really did felt the pain and at that particular point of time the whole incident was reality to you. The pain that you suffered during the course of your dream would have been the same if it were a reality. I am not able to understand why this happened. You were asleep, your body laid motionless, neither your sense organs were active but still you jumped, ran, felt fear, felt pain as if the incident was a reality. You came to know that it was dream only the moment you opened your eyes. All those actions that you did in your dream is impossible without a body and sense organ but you experienced the same without the aid of either of them. That was indeed a strong argument put forward by his intellect and he was convinced to think that way. Now he was put in a dilemma. Am I not this body? If I were then I cannot have an existence beyond this body but I do have. If not this body then what am I? Vismay’s thought process was nearing a crucial point only to get disturbed by a knock at his bathroom door.   He later on realized that he had been sitting there with the brush since past 1 hour. He rushed through his process of brushing and went straight away to his room avoiding the scolding that his mother showered on him. Vismay locked himself up in room and sat on his bed trying to resume his thoughts. He was really excited to reach a conclusion. Because he found out that he was a victim of “identity crisis”. A person who is well versed with almost every knowledge under the sun still if he ignorant about his own identity then instead of calling him as a scholar we will have call him a mad person. Such kind of knowledge possessed by a person will prove to be hazardous to world and we are having plenty of real life examples for that. So Vismay found it really important to know who he exactly is. “Who am I” he resumed his self-introspection from there. The moment he asked himself this question he felt differently. Anyways he resumed. One thing he is sure of was that he is not a mere body which is nothing more than a container of blood and bodily waste with long strips of veins running all over covered by either white, black or dark skin only to hide the dirt and filthiness inside and save ourselves from being attacked by any Predators etc..

So, if not body then what? Am I sense organs which tastes, smells, hear, feel etc…?
No, even that cannot be me as I can go beyond the frontiers of my sense organs and the simplest or materialistic example to that can be our Deep Sleep state. . Every human being has majorly three state namely conscious state (awake state of person), dreaming state (sub conscious state) and deep sleep state (the so called unconscious state). Out of which deep sleep state is the most desirable for majority. During deep sleep I even go beyond my sense organs and of course during meditation also the same happens. If I were sense organ then how I can go beyond that? Maybe my mind which controls all the emotions, interprets stimuli and forms personality. A mind is a group of thought waves formed on the basis of your perceptions and experiences. It is not an organ which can be seen or touched rather it is the data source that helps our brain to take right decision and sometimes even overpowers the same. But mind keeps on changing with the passage of time and it does not show the right picture. It tricks you and most of the times compels you to take wrong decision. But how will I know whether I am the mind or not, questioned Vismay to himself. Basic character of mind is to think and that too either of past achievements and failure or future expectations and uncertainties. If you can go beyond this state then it means you are not mind either. I have my mind active when I am awake, mind is present even in dreaming state also but when it comes to deep sleep state I go beyond mind.  Each and every thought, emotion and action of human being is connected or is circling around “I” thought. The moment you wake up the first thought that comes to your mind is “I” and after that related other thoughts start coming. This “I thought” is the seed of every action in any organism, it induces us to become something. It makes you strive for development and pretends to be evolving but in fact there is literally no change. From primitive period to post Modern era the humanly concerns have not changed much, what we all strive for is peace and uninterrupted bliss in our lives. We study, do job, marry etc... Only in the expectation that it may help us to get that happiness of our life which we are searching for. Even a person suffering from depression seeks happiness but he seeks the same in sadness. So all are seeking for happiness in one way or the other but most fail. Have you ever analyze why do we sleep? Asked his intellect. We all love to sleep and what happens in sleep is that we lose the sensation of our body, give away our fake individuality and retain our real form of wholeness. In deep sleep we in fact lose all those thing which we have created after being born and we love to do that as we ourselves unknowingly know that we are ever fulfilled in that state. Nobody gets bored by sleeping but in fact each time he sleeps he experiences his true existence and gets rejuvenated. Why are you giving me the example of sleep every time inquired Vismay. Because you have only experienced that state, there are people who don’t even sleep. As they remain themselves all the time they are not in need of sleep to retain their wholeness. They say, “The bliss or fulfillment is not something to be achieved, it is actually your very nature”. To Vismay’s astonishment he found out that “He was not a body, not any of the senses nor mind (group of thoughts and emotions) he was the one behind them, the one who observed them. I am the one whose presence made everything function. The moment I am gone nothing will remain and I am not a part of body or an energy inside this body, yes am present in this body but that’s not all. I am omnipresent, I don’t have attitude, dreams and emotions rather am beyond all these. In fact am the controller of all these and I can use them if the situation demands rather than being carried away by them the way it used to happen earlier. The god on whom all the religion resorted upon is our own pure self (without mind). He found out that till now he was carrying a wrong identity, he did found the Trojan horse within him which was his mind. It was the one who betrayed him by pretending him to his friend, Lord Krishna in Bhagwad Gita stated that “I am god, resort to me”. He further stated that “I am the best among best” but we never understood that the “I” about which he stated is the very same “I” within ourselves. In reality he way asking us to resort to the undying energy within us which you can find once you overcome the hurdles created my mind and destroy the same. Vismay realized that he was way more pious than he imagined to be, the fact was that he cannot be unholy whatsoever he may do. Because piousness is his nature and this applies to all (all organisms). The one who has this knowledge with himself by default cannot harm anything. A person who is fulfilled, will do his duties of life without expectations only for the sake of doing which is destined for him to do. This does not mean that he is bound by destiny, this simply means that the action which he is required to perform will be performed by him in a much better way than a worldly human because he is devoid of expectations. This revelation made Vismay balanced and he started understanding thing the way they are. Then he continued his normal life, he never did inculcate some new character, he was the same but he attained such a state of bliss that he was never prone to any variations from that state. He remained the loved one for his family, best friend for his colleagues and did follow them and their love towards him increased day by day as he was no more a human being with limitations.
