One Brochure and a Tea for me too!!

One Brochure and a Tea for me too!!

This is a small anecdote from my life...

During my last semester leaves, we went to Ramanashram, in Tamilnadu. We stayed at Hotel Aakash. Which was in Tiruvannamalai city and ashram was 3 kilometers away from there. So on the second day of our journey we (Me and my elder brother) got up early in morning and decided to have a window visit of the city and also utilize a chance to understand the daily life of people of Tamilnadu. We walked some distance and saw a Restaurant where customers had already started munching in breakfast. My brother suggested that we should have breakfast from there because as per him, when customers visit some particular place early in morning, say 5.30 or 6 am,,, that means that the said restaurant is old, well known, and healthy...  Looking at his trust on the goodwill of the restaurant and to some extend accepting his analysis... I nodded a YEAH to his suggestion...

Well as expected, the restaurant was clean, soothing, smell of hing! (A spice) and sambar had filled the area. We took a seat and soon a person came to take our order... My brother is a bit foodie, so he always asks for menu first and then makes odd selection from it.... He love tasting varieties... As usual he asked for menu... but the facial expression of the Waiter depicted clearly that he didn't understood what my brother asked for.

The waiter understood only tamil....  No Malayalam, no English and  Hindi!!!!  Hindi is unusable there...  The only exposure to tamil for us was Manichitrathazhu movie,,, so with that outlook... my brother dared again and started providing synonyms of MENU... namely.... pamphlet, booklet, prospectus, catalogue, leaflet, handbill, hand-out, bill, circular, flyer, notice...   Finally my brother said brochure!!!  ... This time things seemed to be working... The waiter gave a big smile and repeated brochure???

With extensive pleasure on meeting unexpected success, my brother spontaneously replied... yes yes Broucher...
The waiter replied... OK SAAR!  And made his way to the restaurant kitchen...
With a winner instinct, my brother looked at me and said, "dekha.. aise deal karte hai" that means this is the way to deal....

After 4 to 5 minutes the same waiter came with a long Paper Dosa with 4 chutney's....  He kept the same on table and said... SAAR! Brochure....
Bewildered by the situation... my brother asked him...  BROCHURE????
The waiter replied affirmatively.... AAMA SAAR BROCHURE!!!
I couldn't stop my laughter and soon we both started laughing....  looking us laughing that waiter also started laughing...

And then I requested that waiter.....
