Victor Moses Retirement: "I Hope That His Decision Is Not Definitive" - Rohr

Nigeria Coach Gernot Rohr has expressed his hopes for one of his key players, Victor Moses, from the national team, to reverse his decision on going on retirement.

Moses was a member of the squad that won the 2013 African cup of Nations and represented Nigeria at two World Cups in 2014 and 2018.

Reports from KweséESPN revealed that the Chelsea's number fifteen and a former England U17 star, eight days ago put an end to his international career with the Super Eagles, citing the need to concentrate on his family and club.

Though Rohr is hopeful that the decision can still be reversed.

''We spoke already and I hope that his decision is not definitive," Rohr told KweséESPN.

"I think it depends on his motivation. If he really wants to commit himself again, he is welcome."

"Maybe the chance to win the Afcon is motivation. We will see."

It is quite obvious that Victor's sudden retirement took everyone by surprise, including his teammates, and defender William Troost-Ekong, who told KweséESPN: "I didn't expect it."

"I was just as shocked as everyone else when I heard. It is a massive loss for Nigeria because Victor has been fantastic for us."

"I have only played with him the last year and a half. Everyone sees what he can do."

"Players come and go and it's not one player that makes a team..."

"But at the same time I think it would be exciting to see what other players stand up now."

However, Coach Gernot Rohr from his statement hopes that perhaps, the chance to win a second Africa Cup of Nations title would convince Victor Moses to reconsider his decision to retire from the international football and carry on with his great talent.
