To hold up the Wall or build a bridge?
It could only be one of the two
The wall promised protection from everything that was yet to come
It had kept the scars of memories hidden for years
Gave a sense of security and comfort
Yet, it also stopped chance
Maybe this time if we chose differently
It would end up being right
A bridge.
The thought of building one brought hope.
Maybe it would connect us to something we were searching for all this while.
Friendship. Love. Adventure. Success.
A sense of purpose, a new goal.
The idea of endless possibilities made our hearts beat faster
But so did the slight fear
Of being disappointed by the same expectations.
But that’s when it struck me –
It wasn’t about building something new
Nor was it about holding up what already existed.
It was about destruction.
A bridge could be burned easily.
But a wall.
A wall could take a Lifetime.
And a lifetime seemed scary.
Build a bridge, we finally said.
And ever since, we’ve never looked back.
The walls? We let them down.
And watching them fall was the best decision we ever made.
