So you get yourself ready for Church and you arrive and there's your Pastor who greets you with a smile and says "good morning!" You see the Pastor's family each member has a big smile the kids are well behaved sure looks like they got it all together. The Pastor goes in front of the congregation and gives the Gospel with passion and zeal and you come away thinking "wow another great sermon!" Yes your Pastor is gifted by the Lord with teaching and leading and you have seen proof of that but did you know that your Pastor isn't perfect? Yes that's right your Pastor is not perfect in fact they are just as sinful and fallen as the rest of us. Your Pastor in fact is in daily Spiritual warfare. May not look like it on the outside but it's true. We as Christian's are all in Spiritual warfare but  Pastor's are attacked more heavily cause the devil and the demons truly hate Pastor's and they know that Pastor's spread the Gospel and bring people to Christ and they don't like or want that so every Pastor not only has a target on their back but are literally covered in targets all the the time.... Lets also look at what the Bible says on being a Pastor. "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness" James 3:1 ESV. " "So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" 1 Peter 5:1-5 ESV. "Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you" Hebrews 13:17 ESV. "The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil." 1 Timothy 3:1-7 ESV. So looks to me that our Pastor's are held to a higher standard then the rest of us which is also why they are attacked so much the enemy wants your Pastor to fail. As the husband in held accountable for the Spiritual well being of the household the Pastor will also be held accountable to the Spiritual well being of the congregation. This doesn't mean though that you can do what you want and say "well it's all the Pastor's fault." Adam and Eve tried that blaming others then themselves and it didn't work for them so it won't work for you either.... Our Pastor's do more then just give a sermon every Sunday. They also get many e-mail's of praise reports, prayer requests and many Bible questions all through the week. They officiate the weddings and the funerals. They counsel couples, people getting divorced and people in mourning and so much more. Our Pastor's are on the front lines of Spiritual warfare constantly besides all this.
