Many Christian's say that Halloween isn't Christian and we shouldn't celebrate it because it's all about the devil. This is mostly because Halloween has a pagan past.

Since it's pagan beginnings it has stayed a mostly dark holiday with haunted house walk through's, scary stories, dark decorations of webs and graves etc, and scary movies. Halloween though now is mostly about children dressing up in costumes and going door to door for candy. Halloween can be for adults too as some adults dress in costumes and go to Halloween parties or walk through a person's house that's been decorated to look haunted and creepy. Since it is so dark though and had very dark beginning's most Christian's object to Halloween. This Christian lady however does not object to Halloween in fact I love Halloween I enjoy it....

So let's talk about the past as that's a Christian's first objection to Halloween is because of Halloween dark pagan past. If that is your objection I'm going to bring up the fact that Christmas started out as a pagan holiday...

It started out as the celebration of the winter solstice. 

"Winter solstice s the day with the fewest hours of sunlight during the whole year. In the Northern Hemisphere, it always occurs around December 21 or 22. (In the Southern Hemisphere, it is around June 20 or 21.) ... So even though it's been around a long time the winter solstice is not a world wide thing it's not very popular. However Christian's we took it and we instead changed it to be about Christ and now we have Christmas. 

"The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine (he was the first Christian Roman Emperor). A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on the 25th December."

My point is though it started out pagan it didn't stay that way. We changed it into being about Christ and His birth. So just because Christmas started out pagan does that mean we shouldn't celebrate it anymore?? No of course not. So even though Halloween started out as pagan it doesn't have to stay that way we can change it to be about Christ...

I've got some ideas on how Halloween can be a Christian holiday. We can still have the kids dress up and go out for candy. Lots of Christian parents do Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny for their kids so putting them in a costume and taking them trick or treating won't hurt the kids. Lots of stuff can be the same just change what Halloween is about. Like celebrate Halloween because you are dead to yourself and alive in Christ. Could also mourn for those who will die eternally and pray for the non believers. Could also celebrate Halloween because we know that though we physically die we will yet live and one day we will all rise from the grave and death will cease to exist. This would make Halloween about Christ. We could still dress up in costumes after all who doesn't like to play dress up?? As for the costumes they don't have to be dark you can dress up as an angel, nun, princess, fairy and many other things that aren't dark... 



So I suggest instead of protesting Halloween we Christians should just instead change what it means. We did that with the winter solstice and now it's Christmas we can change Halloween. Just because it had dark pagan beginnings doesn't mean it has to stay that way. There's no law that says we can't change Halloween.
