A luxury holistic wellness Ayurvedic center, the property is from the Tamara group whose properties at Coorg and Kodaikanal are also great options.

Based on the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, all the programs at Amal Tamara are carefully designed to offer privacy, tranquility, diets, exercise and meditation regimens for a truly transformative experience.

All guests are called Amal Yatris and the goal will be to equip each individual with an understanding of lifestyle changes that will allow them to carry wellness wisdom when they leave. The retreat makes sure that they do at lest five follow up calls with all guests.

Amal Tamara offers eight curative programs to choose from, immersive experiences like kathakali dance, a backwater cruise, village tour as well as a customized food menu to suit each individual’s dietary and health requirements.

What I liked about this retreat was the fact that it has nature at its heart. Overlooking the backwaters, the atmosphere is serene and I spent both my mornings here walking inside the property and watching birds.

I also did a tour of the the surroundings and visited a Coir museum, Marari Beach, St. Andrews Basillca, Arthunkal and a Dhanvantri temple.
