Using a general motif of the running stitch kantha embroidery, Tracing the Cartographer’s Trail is Manish Pushkale’s new exhibition of paintings.

Delhi based Manish Pushkale, a contemporary modern Indian artist whose works have a strong influence of his hometown Bhopal and Madya Pradesh is showcasing a series of paintings with the Kantha motif. Being displayed at Delhi’s Triveni Kala Sangam, this collection merges kantha over a variety of materials and palettes to create a stunning collection.

Incidentally Pushkale is a trained geologist who has worked as a daily wage labourer in his formative years at many archaeological sites. “History, paleontology, geology and archaeology have been of interest from the beginning. These works made me realise that they all exist together cohesively. The information of the past has played a key role in the formations of my present,” says Pushkale. A visit to this exhibition that showcases his sensibility and approach to abstraction is sure to make you appreciate an art form that is open to varied interpretations.
