13 Unexpected Reasons to Love Target  (Over Walmart) We all know you can get everything you need and more at both Target and Walmart, so how do you choose which Store to shop? 

Big box stores like Target and Walmart make for a Shopping experience that’s just a cut above any other basic trip to the grocery store. These retail stores stock both standard groceries and tons more, from electronics, to homewares, to clothes. Shoppers who have experienced shopping at both stores will probably ask themselves at one point or another: is Target better than Walmart? When it comes to the overall experience of shopping at either of these big box stores, one retail chain, to me, is superior: Target. Target is my choice for errands and casual shopping alike, and that’s for a few reasons, ranging from store design to financing options offered. Still don’t know what’s so great about Target? Here are SK's top 13 list of reasons to shop Target and Walmart, although both are great for deals!

 1.Visiting Target is Like a Fun Treasure Hunt

When you shop at Target, it’s almost like you’re handed a map to the world’s best treasure hunt. The only difference is that you find treasure along the path to finding what you were really searching for! When I go to Target, I always find something new and fun to take home with me or gift to a friend.

2.Target’s $1 Bin Starts Your Visit Right

Close to the entrance at almost every Target store is the famous—or infamous, depending on who you ask–$1 Bin. This area is always full of cute, seasonal items that are steeply discounted, with many items coming in at $1 to $5! If you've been to a Target lately you know about the section at the front with $1 bin items. Some are actually a bit more than a $ but most are under $5. Here you can find awesome craft items, trendy decor, kids toys, office supplies, small art pieces, planters and so much more! Way better quality than a traditional store and all with great design. 

Walmart has great prices but last I visited I didn't see a specific deal bin, the deals are spread around the store. 

3.Target Has Amazing House Brands…

Target stocks some name brand items from various categories, but they also offer a variety of house brands at different pricepoints! If you’re a savvy Target shopper, you’re likely familiar with the budget line of homewares, Room Essentials, or the newer luxurious linen line, Casaluna. All of Target’s house brands are thoughtfully designed for their customers, and they make shopping even more fun!

A big part of the Target experience is the excitement that comes with a Target Collab, but watch out they do sell out really fast! My current obsessions are the home decor lines including Opalhouse/Justina Blakeney Jugalow collection,  Magnolia Hearth & Hand and  Threshold with Studio McGee. So many awesome home and garden decor pieces to discover!  Aside from Target’s in-house partnerships with designers and influencers, they also do long-run or limited edition partnerships with popular brands, like Levi’s and Disney. These special lines of products are always highly sought after.

5.Target’s Design and Marketing are Colorful and Inclusive

This might seem like an odd reason to love Target but seriously the TV and print ads just make me smile and feel happy. Also I love that they have really embraced inclusivity and are supporting Black Entrepreneurs, Environmental issues,  LGBQ and more timely issues head-on. 

Target makes intentional, thoughtful strides when it comes to store design and customer experience. When you go to Target, you are walking into a store that has a beautiful design baked into it from start to finish, from the lighting to featured item displays to the width of the aisles. Their marketing is also a joy: bright, colorful, and inviting.

Target’s options for payment are among the best. They will always accept standard cash or card transactions, but they also offer an amazing store credit card, the Red Card, which offers 5% off on every transaction. Near most downtown office work areas a quick trip on your lunch break to a City Target will not only save you time but also save you spending weekends driving out to the suburbs or worrying about how all your packages will get delivered to your apartment.

Walmart 

In short, while Walmart does offer most of the items you’d ever need and does so at discounted prices, it lacks the fun and enjoyment that a trip to Target provides. Do yourself a favor the next time you run errands and visit the Target near you!

Walmart has many similar things but they do it the Walmart way which is also good but just not as fun as Target.

• Walmart has everything I could ever need but shopping the store just doesn't feel joyful or fun.
• Deals everyday, I don't know of a specific deal bin or section of the store. 
• Walmart also has a Credit Card offer with Capital One that gives 5% off your first purchase. 
• Online shopping at Walmart.com is easy and they do offer both layaway and in-store pick-up options.
• Food courts are getting bigger in Walmart stores which is good for days when you don't feel like cooking. 
• Walmart also has some design collabs but they don't draw the attention or sell-out factor of Target's partnerships.
• Walmart grocery section is huge and great for stocking up the pantry or hosting an event.
