Ubisoft survey shows that 25 percent of employees have noticed or experience workplace misconduct.

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft has posted the results of an employee survey that was taken by Ubisoft over the summer. Following the assertion of domestic harassment, as well as toxicity, and the outcome are eye-opening.

During the anonymous survey of close to 14,000 employees, one out of four respondents mentioned that they had either seen. Or experienced workplace misconduct by themselves over the past two years. Also, one in five mentioned that they did not feel “fully respected or safe in the work environment”.

The results also showed that women as well as non-binary employees noticed. Or were more likely to experience the harassment than the men.

Ubisoft mentions that the survey – that was led by a third-party research firm. And the outcome of which were being given to The Verge began “shortly after the initial allegations” of sexism. Sexual harassment, misconduct, and an unsafe workplace environment came to the fore earlier this summer.

Ubisoft executives and creative leaders

Because of those allegations, a group of Ubisoft executives and creative leaders too have been either sacked. Or brought down from their recent roles. Not excluding Ashraf Ismail, Yannis Mallat, Tommy Francois, Serge Hascoet, and Maxime Beland. Ubisoft veteran, Michel Ancel also left the company of recent.

A report from French newspaper Liberation of which Michel Ancel opposes mentioned that this was as a result of an unfinished investigation into the Michel Ancel toxic management of Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Guillemot’s letter went further in explaining how the company hopes to start dealing with these issues and to also assist in creating a safer and a better work environment at Ubisoft. Guillemot notes that Ubisoft has new mechanisms in place to report harassment accusations anonymously so that they can be further investigated.

Ubisoft is as well going through its mandatory company code of conduct and leading anti-harassment and anti-sexism training over the company.

Ubisoft to hire new posts

The company is as well working towards hiring new vice presidents and a new head of diversity and inclusion. It aims at having women comprise not less than 24 percent of the staff of Ubisoft by 2023. Compared to the recent 22 percent.

The changes made are in addition to the earlier announced efforts for extended diversity as well as representation at the company. They include underrepresented minorities and new mentorship programs for women.

Guillemot closing remarks reads thus:

“Everyone at Ubisoft should be able to feel confident and have the same opportunities, regardless of their gender, skin color, religion, age, or other individual traits”. Depending on the way the company has controlled business over the past few decades.

Nevertheless, the company still seems to have a very long way to go before it gets to that point.
