Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. Ubud, Bali.

When he had thrown out the idea of going to see the monkeys I reacted as a 10 year old child would have. I naturally got overwhelmed with excitement because I had never been around a Monkey, besides seeing one far away at the Lincoln Park Zoo. This monkey forest is a nature reserve and Hindu temple complex in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. My advice: Don’t go in like I did, assuming all monkeys are nice. They ARE NOT. Some are evil little creatures. They are as cute as a button but after you purchase a handle of banana’s its game over.

There are little huts that sell bananas inside the forest where you can feed them. You hold a banana up high and they climb you like a tree. It’s actually really cute until you get a mammoth monkey who wants your banana. LOL. But really. I learned this as I was walking out. I was planning on feeding a mama monkey and her baby when all of the sudden my pony tail was yanked and an enormous 10lb monkey climbed up my back and bit my finger. I was led to the “medical” which consisted of rubbing iodine on my finger. The monkey forest was a cool little walk but don’t get it twisted, all they want are your bananas! They are not there to make friends, which I sadly came to reality with.
