Whale Rider (based on the novel by Witi Ihimaera), on the other hand, portrays the story of a resolute Maori girl (Kahu) challenging this age-old tradition by displaying her caliber to be the descendant of their clan.

A heart-warming romance accidentally develops between an old, short-tempered widower and a young- dejected housewife through an unexpected mix-up of lunchboxes by the dabbawalas of Bombay. The quest for absolute happiness is the major theme of this lovely tale.

As destiny would have it, the girl suffers from memory loss for one day. And the guy takes this 'one day' chance, pretends to be her boyfriend and gives her the happiest moments of her life-knowing the bitter truth that she would forget him the very next day.
