Step #1: To apply passport online India, visit official Passport India website www.passportindia.gov.in. In middle you can easily find Register Now button under New User Registration option. To apply fresh passport online, press this button. As soon as you click, a new application form will open asking for many information.

Step #2: Now fill the form with accurate information. Provide your nearest Passport office address or PSK, your name, date of birth, email id and user name. Create your login credentials and click finally on the register button below right side. Provide information carefully as you don’t want trouble later.

Step #3: After that you have go back to home page of Passport India website. Now click on Login button under Existing User option. You have to provide the email id provided by you in step 2. After that a new screen will appear where you have to provide password and captcha and click login.

Step #4: After successful login, look for “Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport” option. Click on that option.

Step #5: In the next screen you will find 2 options. Alternative 1 and Alternative 2. If you want to fill the form manually or apply passport offline then choose Alternative 1 option. As we are discussing the online process, then choose the first option 2.

Step #6: So after choosing Alternative 2, you will get new screen. Choose Fresh Passport or re-issue option.

• Type of application as Normal or Tatkal passport (in case of tatkal passport online registration) , type of passport booklet as 38 pages or 60 pages.
• If you are applying for a minor then provide the validity required option. Then click on the next button.

Step #7: In the next screen you have to fill up all your personal data as per your documents. Be careful as your details will be verified with your documents that you will submit. In case any miss match your passport application will be rejected.

Step #8: The next step is very important that is scheduling an appointment to visit PSK. And that can be done through online only. After filling all the data when you proceed next screen, you can easily find the available slots on the next available date. Simply choose the date and time of passport appointment online by clicking on Pay & Schedule Appointment.

Step #9: Either you can pay online using the payment gateway or you have t visit to SBI branch and pay through challan. It is better to pay online only and book passport appointment online immediately.

Step #10: Next, choose the appointment and proceed further. Finally click on pay & Book appointment button and then finish the online payment. Online Payment can be made using any one of the following modes:

• Credit/ Debit Card (MasterCard and Visa)
• Internet Banking (State Bank of India(SBI), Associate Banks and Other Banks)
• SBI Bank Challan
• SBI Wallet Payment

Note: Applicants applying under Tatkaal need to pay, only the fee as applicable under Normal Category while making Online Payment. The balanced Tatkaal fee applicable should be payable in “Cash” at Passport Seva Kendra/ Passport Office, once application under ‘Tatkaal’ category is accepted.

Step #11: After this step & payment an ARN number will be generated. You have to take a printout of this receipt and carry the same while visiting to PSK for appointment. You also have to take print out of the application form in the next screen.
