PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

In pursuit of happiness I immerse,

Searching for it in the distant world,

Seeking it from within, happiness, 

Happiness peaks within young souls,

Climbing a tree, riding a bicycle,

Catching a butterfly, playing games,

Where have they gone? Gone for a ride,

Lost in laptops and mobiles, 

Hiding behind the linen robs,

Locked inside our climate-controlled cabins, 

Happiness went missing, 

No-where to be found, to my dismay!

Too busy to search ourselves,

Can you teach me to be happy?

Classrooms, webinars and seminars,

Only the back breaks sitting hours listening, 

Leaving empty pockets, Happiness 

Gone for a ride, Happiness,

Desires leads to sufferings,

I left behind the desire of being happy,

At the least suffering is avoided, 

In pursuit of happiness I immerse,

Searching for it in the distant world,

Seeking it from within, happiness,

The Terrace ....

Summer is about to end, dampness announces the monsoon,

The climate inside the house is still hot and humid,

I spread my bed in the terrace, to enjoy the gentle breeze,

There I lay in the open air, gazing at the stars,

With a bleak yellow light behind me,

The lightning streaks meet the far away barren land,

Feels like the sky is clicking my picture with flash light,

Followed by a loud sound of a thunder; reminding me,

It’s not a flash photography...

Occasionally passing vehicles wakes up the street dogs,

Street dogs responds with a bark,

Followed by their friends in the next gully,

I start to count the stars, one here and there,

I found only a dozen but amazed with their formation,

A sickle, A half moon, A zigzag,

While Wondering about the polar star,   

I could feel the gentle cool breeze brushing me in the terrace,

Wondering why the breeze refuses to flow inside, 

Crickets starts to pitch their notes;

while a frog counters with a croak; It rained a day before,

Community Gurkah passes-by blowing whistle,

The Gurkah's whistle calms the crickets and the frogs,

Crickets and frogs start again with fading whistle sound,

Shadow of the passing cloud darkens the terrace,

I Could hear a melody song, probably from the FM radio,

I close my eyes for a goodnight sleep,

 Early morning dew settles down,

Do you feel the chillness of the dew drops,

It feels like I am in a fairy land,

Where the cloud floats below the feet,

The sun hesitates to rise and slowly peeps out,

  Spreading out Rangoli of orange, yellow & magenta colors,

The early bird wakes me up with its singing,

Opening my eyes I slowly get down from the fairy land,

A new day and a new journey has just began...

When I think of Hero,

Courage is what comes to my mind,

When someone is in midst of trouble,

He is there in the double. 

Hearing the word hero,

The villains are equal to thousand zeroes,

But not every hero has special costumes,

Nor do they have wings,

Though they have common things,

Not like the fantasy,

But indeed lovely.

My hero is none like this one,

Instead on the run, Throughout,

He works day and night,

A great brilliance, my father.

To win is hard.. It's even harder to win over self

I try hard to succeed, every time I push forward,

I slip backward, Success always evades,

Many told success is evasive, but I am determined,

I started chasing success day and night,

Every time I come closer, I am drained,

And success successfully evades,

Have to do something different to Succeed,

Time to think differently, Decided to

Get rid of my thinking about success and walk in my way,

Concentrate on what I know and do the best,

First time I realized success started following me,

Then, I and success are like poles repelling each other,

Success, successfully evades again,

Lazy Sunday morning I was standing on the porch having coffee,

Far away a film song floats in the air,

“Unai Arindhal Nee Unai Arindal Ulagathil poradalam”

(knowing yourself is the key to sustain in the world)

Felt light when I heard those lines, realizing I have to win over myself,

That realization moment, gave a lot of high,

I let go my Ego’s, hard feelings, doubts, Enmity,

Domination, negativity, stereotyped nature etc...

Hurray. I Won over myself, standing beside me is success, smiling at me,

Promising me not to leave and holding my hands tight,

I Won the fight against me finally... 

There is no winner nor loser in this fight
Its all about getting better and better overcoming the self-imposed hurdles
Happy ending

Today is the day, start spreading peace and love,

Today is the day, thank those who helped you,

Today is the day, to remember our stepping stones,

Today is the day, to be happy and joyous,

Today is the day, to bring a positive change,

Today is the day, to be yourself,

Don't wait for tomorrow, which never comes

Yesterday is gone in time,

Today is the day to act,

To have a beautiful tomorrow.

பணி என்றான், முன்னேற்றம் என்றான்,

வீடு வாங்கினான், மகிழ்வுந்து வாங்கினான்,

கல்லூரியில் காளை போல வலம் வந்தவன்,

இன்று பூனை போல் அலுவலகத்தில்,

வருவதும் தெரியாமல்,போவதும் தெரியாமல்,

நிற்காமல் ஓடினான், மாடாய் உழைத்தான்,

குடும்பத்தை மறந்து, சொந்தங்களை துறந்து,

அறுபது வயதில் ஓய்வு பெற்று, வாழ்க்கை கனவோடு;

மகளோ அமெரிக்காவில், மகனோ இங்கிலாந்தில்,

யாருக்காக ஓடினான், காளை ஏன் பூனை ஆனது,

சிந்தனையில், தனிமையில் தொலைத்த நாட்களை எண்ணி!!!
